Vamoose Rendezvous!

Woodrow Hangboard Contest

April 21, 2019

We had a great event on Saturday the 20th hosted by Vamoose magazine, a publication here in Utah that advocates for outdoor enthusiasts, that incites, encourages and even goads folks to get outside and enjoy themselves in the natural surroundings. The first of many, Rendezvous was intended to bring outdoor gear and activity enthusiasts together for a time of education, connection and fun.

We took the fun side of things..

Building a free standing and portable hangboard was our way of offering the public something fun and challenging with rewards attached. Gift cards to Black Diamond Equipment of $100, $50 and $25 were promised to those who placed 1st, 2nd and 3rd, respectively. With a $10 entry fee, all you had to do was hang on the middle rung the longest, or, 2nd or 3rd longest and, along with a free shirt, you had a chance at the prize.

Caleb W. took the $25 dollar gift card doing it at a decent 1 minute and 40 seconds.

Not wanting to pay for his daughter's entry into the contest, young climber, Jayce, simply attempted the board and was going strong until we convinced her father to allow her to enter. She had already been hanging for a while when she started again, officially this time and hung for 2 minutes flat! Way to go, Jayce! Enjoy the $50 dollars to BD.

Also hesitant to pay was Jordan, M. who was on the hangboard during the event for almost two minutes but really wanted to try it out or even show off. He was at a neighboring booth and being the climber that he is, I'm sure he couldn't resist a go at it to show off his skills. After more thought he decided to enter the contest and hang once more. It paid off for him. 2 minutes and 10 seconds!!

Congratulations and Great Work, Jordan.
